5THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT SAY TO YOUR CHILD
Children take everything literally and the way you talk to them goes a long way in building their personality. Their minds are not developed enough to understand that
these were unintentional and as a result , it incapacitates their little minds.
The only way we can avoid this from happening is, carefully selecting the words we speak to and in front of our children.
5 THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT SAY TO YOUR CHILD
1. "You are a dull!"
Personally, i don't believe anybody is a dullard. Rather, a slow learner. When you tell your child he/she is a dullard, they grow up with that. It cripples their zeal to try harder. It is possible you as a parent is trying to pose a challenge. But your child's mind is too young to thing it that way. Hence, he/she takes you for your words.
2. "You are as useless as your father/mother."
Childhood is a very important stage in your child's life. As I've said, they take everything literally. It is possible your child's father/mother didn't turn out to be who they are supposed to be. But rubbing it one your child's face at the slightest provocation is wrong. Such claves on the mind of your child and before he/she will grow up to understand, it might have robbed him/her of a lot as a child.
3. "You are big for nothing!"
Many a times when parents say this, they mean, "don't you know you are grown up
already? Stop behaving like a child!" Children would definitely grow up, don't try to force them to. Even if you must, always remember your responsibility as a parent to make them happy, secure and confident to face the world.
4."You'll never amount to nothing!"
You are your child's hero and when you begin to show doubts on them, they lose focus and it shakes their confidence. Always give your child a chance as long as it is not to their detriment. Children learn through trial and error, but they'll never try anything new if you've shown them you've lost hope in them or never believed in them.
5. "You are a bad child."
Never feed your child with negative thoughts. It kills his/her self esteem. Kids are innocent and believe in goodness. Always tell them to be good, happy and positive. When they go wrong, address the thing they did as bad and not them. Teach them what is right and wrong and to value good things over bad.
